Scottish Writer who writes both science fiction and normal fiction books. He is known as Iain M. Banks when writing science fiction and simply Iain Banks at all other times. At University, he studied English, Philosophy and Pyschology. Apart from writing, his other main
interest has been cars and has quite an impressive collection. At the start of his career, he met his wife in London before moving back to Scotland when his writing career took off.
He has a disdain for relgious, he belongs to the National Secular Society and known for his left-wing views. He was amongst a number of people who tried to impech the Prime Minister for going to war with Iraq in 2003.
Most of his sci-fi books he writes are about the Culture.
