After recruiting members for a mission to find a missing Marqui spaceship that was last seen heading into the badlands. It's pulled through a wormhole and so begins their journey home. Tests are carried out on her and her crew by a superior being who needs to find a replacement. After managing to escape from their captivity, the alien dies and she makes the decision to destroy the alien space station that brought her through to the Delta Quadrant. This is done to prevent the alien race known as the Kazon from harnessing the power of the quadrant. She finds the missing ship and offers a hand to them so that they both get back home because they need one another. Throughout the series, she is a by-the-rule book woman who won't do anything unless rules and regulations allow it. The most notable time that she does break the rules is in the last episode, an old Janeway reflects on her past. She decides to travel back in time and space and persuade her younger self to forget the rules and get home quicker. The plan is to take on the BORG at one of their Transpace Hub Centres which they but the older one dies in doing so. She is kidnapped by an altering Tom Paris and taken to a nearby planet where they mate, the offspring is left behind on the planet.
