When we first see her, she is Queen of Naboo who is under seige from the Trade Federation over new taxation. She is rescued from the siege by two Jedi warriors ( Qui-Gon and Obi-wan Kenobi ) who aim to take her before the Grand Senate. During the journey, they crash land on Tatooine where she meets for the first time Anakin Skywalker, a slave. After arranging for his release, they leave for the Senate. Not accepting the opinion of the Senate who want to send a fact-finding team back to the planet, she returns with the Jedi Knights to fight the blockade. She leads a small force into the Royal Palace to confront Nute Gunray. In the second film, she is targeted with assassination. Jedi Knights Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker are assigned to protect her. Anakin has aged considerably whereas Padme has only aged a few years. After chasing one of the assassins through the streets of Coruscant, Obi-Wan leaves Anakin with Padme. She takes him on a tour of her home planet as they get closer to one another. He takes her back to Tatooine where they first met so that he can rescue his mother. When Obi-Wan requests help from Genosis, the two lovers don't hesistate to help. Captured, the three heroes ( Anakin, Obi-Wan and Padme ) make their escape from being fed to a variety of creatures. Their escape is helped by the arrival of Jedi Knights and Senate stormtroopers. After the crisis is over, she marries Anakin in secret. During the time of when the Chancellor Palpatine finally makes his move to become Emporer Palpatine, Padme stays in the background, pregnant with her children. She organises a series of diplomatic meetings with other senators to discuss the crisis. When Anakin finally turns to the Dark Side, she leaves her Coruscant home to persuade Anakin to come back to the Republic. He hits her as he doesn't believe her anymore. Unable to reconcile what has happened, she dies in childbirth naming her children Luke and Leia with her final breathe. Person Profile She started off as a child star in the film Leon. The film is about an orphaned twelve year old girl who falls into the care of a professional hitman when her parents are slained. Leon, the hitman takes revenge on the killers. Whilst Natalie was perfect for the second two films, she was inappropriately cast for the first film. The basis of this is that she doesn't age much between the first two films whereas Anakin does. Padme in the first film should have been much younger.
