Star Wars III, Revenge of the Sith
Synopsis |
The Chancellor Palpatine has been kidnapped in a spectacular sweep on the Senate. He is held onboard the Invisible Hand, the flag ship of the Trade Federations space navy. Anakin and Obi-Wan lead a daring operation to rescue the Chancellor. Onboard is General Grevious, the leader of the droid army and the separatists. In the ensuing battle inside the flagship, General Grevious escapes. Count Dooku, the earlier darling of the separatists is killed in a fight with the two jedi's.
Obi-Wan is sent to Utapau to track down and kill the General once and for all. Obi-Wan is successful and returns jubiliant. Yoda travels to Kashyyyk to provide assistance to the Wookies as they begin the fight against the droid army,
Whilst Obi-wan is hunting the General, Anakin continues to get closer to the Chancellor. Anakin is plagued by nightmares that Padme will die during childbirth and seeks ways in which this can be prevented. The Chancellor suggests the dark side of the force as it is darker and a more powerful force than what the jedi use. Anakin notifies Mace Windu who the Chancellor really is, a Sith Lord. When a team of Jedis go to arrest the Chancellor, the Chancellor reveals himself to be a Sith lord and despatches three of the four Jedis leaving Mace alone. The Sith Lord uses electricity from his fingers in an attempt to kill Mace but he is too strong for the Sith. The real face of Palpatine is revealed. As Mace is about to strike the deadly blow on the Chancellor, Anakin returns to the room and chops off Maces hands. The Sith Lord elevates Mace into the air and fires him off into the night. Anakin is given the name Darth Vader then instructed to kill every Jedi alive. He visits the Jedi Temple and kills every young jedi. Palpatine initiates Order 66 which is the instruction for the Clone Army to turn on the Jedis and kill them.
With only Yoda and Obi-Wan left alive, they return to the Temple to send a message to remaining the Jedis of the danger. Palpatine goes to the Senate and assumes the title of Emperor Palpatine. Obi-Wan, C-3PO and Padme journey to Mustafar, a planet on the outskirts of the galaxy to confront Anakin. Anakin is there to kill all the Separatist leaders which he does easily. Padme attempts to reason with Anakin but he sees her as being an enemy and attempts to strangle her. Obi-Wan who went along in the journey only intervenes once Padme has been hit. The two Jedis fight it out across the lava streams of the planet. Yoda meanwhile fights against Palpatine to a deadlock so Yoda leaves. Anakin looses the fight and ends up having his arms and legs cut off with Obi-Wan walking away as he burns. The Emperor senses the pain in Anakin and leaves for the planet. Anakin is recovered and taken back to Coruscant for rebuilding into Darth Vader as we know him. Padme gives birth to twins, she was only expecting one. The boy Luke is taken to his Aunt and Uncle on Tatooine. The girl Leia is given to Bail Organa for raising. Yoda retreats to Dagobah.
