| It was only a matter of time before they revisited old sci-fi franchise, to the pleasure of some and displeasure of others. All the main characters are still there, Ming, Flash, Dale, Aura, Zarkov and the odd new one (Baylin). Flash is still the blonde American Footballer of the original, Dale, the brunette sports reporter. Flash will have the first name of Steven but be referred throughout as Flash. It last came to our screens in 1980 as a feature film with Sam Jones playing the lead role. The title music made such an impact, that it will be used as the theme tune for the new series. Some changes have been made, Zarkov is not a mad scientist who kidnaps Flash. Zarkov is a friend of Flash's father who has details of Flash's death. Gone has the title Merciless, instead Ming will exhibit more of personality that todays Dictators have. Instead of firing off into space, there is a galactica wormhole between the worlds. Ming is still the same despot as he was in previous productions. |
