We never see what the Mysterons look like. Their work is carried out by Captain Black who was once a Spectrum agent before being killed then bought back to life. They declared war on Earth after an Earth Exploratory Vehicle piloted by Captain Black attacks one of their installations on Mars. As their agents are Humans, the Alien Race is Human.
