A Desert planet which is ignored by the Empire because it is of no worth. The natural inhabitents are Jawas who scavenge the land and then sell what they find onwards. It is also the birthplace for Anakin Skywalker who would later become Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker spends his first eighteen or so years on the planet as a farm boy. His sister lives in luxury elsewhere.
