Thundercats

Fact File
Creator Ted Wolf
Run 1985-1989

It was a cartoon series that first appeared in the 1980's. It tells the story of a race of alien cat people who flee from their home planet Thundera before it explodes. As they leave their home planet, they are attacked by another craft pilotted by a group of assorted aliens known as the Mutants. The Thundercats are forced to crash land on a planet which they call 'Third Earth'. The Mutants follow suit down onto the planet.

The Thundercats turn their spacecraft into the Cat's Lair which will now become their new home. The Mutants turn their craft into the rather demonic Castle Plundarr. The Mutants come across a Pyramid whose inhabitent is the undead mummy Mumm-Ra who becomes their defacto leader.

The Thundercats are led by lion inspired aptly named Lion-O who had gone from being naive and unprepared to their Leader. The Mutants are lead by Slithe, a creature most resembling a walking frog.
