| The X-Files follows the investigations of F.B.I. Special Agents Fox Mulder ( David Duchovny ) and Dana Scully ( Gillian Anderson ) as they search out and investigate the paranormal including Alien sightings, hence the reason for detailing this series. The programme ran for nine years and included nine series and a cinematic movie. Some of the investigations are reputedly to have come from actual case files, whether they are or not is open to debate. One episode in particular called 'Squeeze' was voted by the British people as being the scariest thing ever made for television. Not to go too much in details, the monster in the series could squeeze through the smallest of holes making it hard for the agents to follow him. The scariest moment ever if you are interested is 'The Shining' which is not Alien/Space Related. Nearing the end of its life, David left the series to persue other things. Throughout the nine series, he had persued the truth as to whether the Government was covering up the existance of alien life-forms that had arrived. He had become too dangerous for the organisation he was really hunting known only as 'The Syndicate' and so became a hunted man. The head of the Syndicate was a man only known as 'The Cigarette Smoking Man'. He had originally been called 'The Cancer man' but as it probably upset a few people, it was changed. Once he left the series, it was not over for him just yet, he made the odd special guest appearance every so often. David was replaced by Robert Patrick who played John Doggett who also had an unhappy past.
Gillian had a contract still to run so she couldn't leave at the same time. They brought in Agent Monica Reyes who it had hoped would be her replacement but the programme got axed in 2002 with both Sculley and Reyes investigating. At the beginning when X-Files was first shown, there was no relationship but one grew out of nothing. In the Millenium episode, they shared a kiss. |
