Rosetta Philae lands on cometNovember 12th, 20014 6:59 pm

Rosetta`s Philae lander has finally landed on its target, P67/Churyumov-Gerasimenko after a ten year journey. After a tense wait, the signal that they had been hopping for finally came through much to everyone joy. Now it is hoped some of the questions the mission set out with can be answered. *Edit* Philae landed in a shaded area of the comet, this meant its onboard battery could receive the sunlight it needed to replenish its batteries. Scientists carried out as many experiments they could do before the batteries finally went dead. Now comes the analysing part.

Teaser for the Christmas 2014 Episode is releasedNovember 9th, 2014, 10:11 am

The latest series of Doctor Who has finished with a glimpse of what is on offer for the Christmas episode. There is snow which is kind of mandatory for a Christmas episode nowadays along with what looks like an Alien Xenomorph. Given its designed for family viewing, the monster won`t be anything like the creature in the alien films, sorry to disappoint some. Also making his appearence if Father Christmas / Santa Claus. There`s also echoes of The Thing. No pictures of Clara and speculating whether she will return since her boyfriend Danny Pink from the current series was killed off. *Edit* In latter adverts for the Christmas episode, Clara does return to help the The Doctor.

The principal photography has been completed and now onto post production. The title doesn`t give too much away, we can only speculate. There have been many rumours about what the film is about. All we know for definate is that main characters are returning along with new faces. The film The Force Awakens is out in December 2015 so still nearly a year to wait yet.

Possible new name for next World of Warcraft expansion, "Eye of Azshara"November 6th, 2014, 7:06 pm

The next expansion of World of Warcraft could be "Eye of Azshara" after Blizzard, the producers filed a trademark for it according games news sites such as Gamespot. For those who are not in the know, Azshara is both a zone in Kalimdor to the north of Durotar and one of the early playing zones for Goblin.

However it more likely to refer to the Night Elf Queen who ruled Azeroth thousands of years ago when the Burning Legion first attacked. Azshara caused sundering which split the one continent into two. Azshara was turned into a Naga and was never seen of since. The name implies she could be making a return. With Blizzcon, the annual get together of Warcraft fans could reveal more on this. Azshara at the moment can be seen in the dungeon Well of Eternity.

If not an expansion for World of Warcraft, maybe for one of its other games such as Hearthstone.

More on Star Wars Episode VIIJuly 26th, 2014, 13:34p.m.

Another week, more rumours about the new Star Wars film surfaces. The latest piece of news is regarding the plot. The storyline may or may not be correct. The story begins with a severed hand in space, the hand allegedly belongs to Luke Skywalker who hasn`t been seen for thirty years. It falls into the possession of a ex-stormtrooper and his missus. They set off to find the owner of the hand. Along the way, they come across Han Solo and Chewbacca who tells the characters who the hand belongs to. A subplot is the creation of a super powerful new weapon that is more deadly than the Death star which can destroy whole solar systems rather than just planets. 1

If the hand does belong to Luke Skywalker, it can`t be the hand he lost in The Empire Strike Back. Skywalker lost his hand on the gas giant planet of Bespin unless it somehow managed to escape the planets atmosphere and ended up in space which is highly unlikely even for fantasy stories. The storyline has the main characters played by John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, both of whom seem a bit too old for those roles described in earlier treatments. The latest recruits to the film, Pip Anderson and Crystal Clarke are in my views more likely to play the main roles.

Another rumour has been that Carrie Fisher`s daughter Billie Lourd will play Princess Leia in flashback scenes.2. Billie is said to look like her mum, I`ll let you decide on that one.

If only it was true.July 8th, 2014, 8:24pm

It might look real but it is in fact a fake, someone has made a convincing Star Wars leaked video. It shows all the main Empire vehicles, from the AT-AT Walker to the Death Star. Its short but good.

The cast of Star Wars Episode 7 has been revealedApril 30th, 2014, 19:23

The principle characters of the new Star Wars film has been announced and have all been bought together for a photo. Along with the actors who played Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher),Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), Chewbecca (Peter Mayhew) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), there is also the next generation of cast members consisting of John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Domhnall Gleeson, Oskar Isaac and Adam Driver. They had been gathered for a read-through at the production studios with the Director (JJ Abrams), Chief Writer (Lawerence Kasdan) and Producer Kathleen Turner. The noticable absentees are Kenny Baker who played R2-D2 and creator George Lucas. However in the photo, the only star Wars prop visible is that of the robot, R2-D2. Its been announced that R2-D2 will feature in the film and Kenny Baker will once again climb inside the robot.

All that has been released is that the film is set thirty-five years after the events of the Return of the Jedi. When the castings began, the description of the female lead was someone who was a survivalist and an orphan. Rumours are going round that the lead female (Daisy Ridley) will be the daughter of the Solo`s and not an orphan as we`ve been led to believe. The story will be unique and will not follow the expanded universe that books and comics have been telling. We`ll have to wait and see. The lead male if going by what has been said in the papers so far is John Boyega, who will take on that role given his age, early twenties. Some rumours is that John`s character will be the son of Lando Calrissian who does not feature in the photo so probably won`t be appearing in the film which is a shame. Adam Driver of `Girls` fame will take on the role of the Antagonist. All the cast members have experience so was there really any point in doing open auditions?

'Warlords of Draenor' is next Warcraft ExpansionNovember 9th, 2013, 10:22 am

To coincide with the Blizzcon conference, Blizzard Entertainment has released details of the next expansion to be called World of Warcraft - Warlords of Draenor. The adventure is set in the past when the asteroid `Outlands` was a whole planet. Outlands is where adventurers go when they are about 58 -> 68. Unlike the old Outlands, the new continent will allow you to level up to 100 rather just up another 5 levels which they had been doing in the previous two expansions. People who buy the expansion will get a level 90 straightaway so that they can experience the new expansion without having to level up from level 1 for any new additional characters. There will be seven new zones including updated Shadowmoon Valley and Nagrand

The story is that Garrosh Hellscream, the end boss in `Mists of Pandaria` has escaped trial and travelled back in time to change the course of history. Both the Horde and the Alliance will travel back to stop him. Garrosh went back to Draenor because it is the ancestral home of the Orcs before they came through the Dark Portal to attack Azeroth.

There are no new races or classes as there had been in previous expansions, just new features. For example, new features include Garrisons which can be customised according to your own personal requirements. In the Garrison, you will be able to see awards for your achievements, e.g. a head on a stick or statue for your kill as an example. There will be six new dungeons and an update of Upper Black Rock Spire, the classic dungeon. 10/25 man raids will now be merged into one raid type and all will be flex 20 called Mythic. More information on the expansion can be found on the WowHead site.

Races such as Dwarves, Orcs and Gnomes have been updated, for example, Dwarven males are more hairy than before. At the time of the press release, only the three races below have been released.

The Twelfth Doctor is....August 4th, 2013, 20:45 pm

After days of speculation which has put a diverse range of actors from Ben Daniels through David Harewood to Daniel Rigby in the frame, the wait is over. The new Doctor Who is... Peter Capaldi who happened to be the bookies favourite with odds closing at 5/6. Like Amy Pond and the Sixth Doctor, the actor has appeared in a previous episode. He played Caecilius in the episode `The Fires of Pompeii` which also starred Karen Gillan who went onto be the Tenth Doctor`s (Matt Smith) companion for the majority of his time in the role. Capaldi is over twenty years older than the current one which will please some of the fans who longed for a return to the older man style Doctor. It might alienate some of viewers who wished to keep the Doctor a youthful character. Only time will tell, Capaldi will take on the role at the end of the Christmas episode. It is unlikely to see him in the anniversary special but you never know.
