The COROT (COnvection ROtation and planetary Transits) space project has discovered a planet which is believed to have a rocky surface. The project led by the French space agency in collaboration with other organisations. It is a space telescope that scans the stars for wobbles that might suggest evidence of a planet orbiting. It was announced that they discovered an Exoplanet, 1.7x the size of Earth encircling a star in the constellation of Monoceros that had a solid surface. The planet raced round its star every 20 hours and is too close to the star to sadly support life. Previous exoplanet discoveries had been of planets that were made of gas like Jupiter.
