New "Rise of Skywalker" Information

At the official Disney 23 convention, more information was released about the forthcoming Star Wars IX film. This is the film that will close the chapter on the Skywalker family which started with Luke Skywalker in the original film then continued with his parents Padme Amidala and Anakin Skywalker in the prequels.

Half the video shows scenes from all the past films as they lead up to the final film. Additional things we do see is Naomi Ackie's character Jannah for the first time with Finn in the fabled Millennium Falcon.

There will be a final fight between Rey and Kylo Ren, two principle characters on either side of the fight. It is probably the final lightsaber fight of the film. There is a picture in the clip where we see Rey like we've never seen her before. In all the previous films, we've only ever seen Rey wearing her distinctive scavenger outfit but in the clip, she is wearing a dark cape, much like the one that Luke wore when he confronted Jabba, the Hutt to rescue Han Solo.

The light sabre is red and unfolds into a double headed lightsaber like that of Darth Maul. What is interesting is that its Red and red is the sign of The Sith. Its unlikely that Rey has turned to the dark side, maybe its a clone. Reason for a clone is because the scene looks like its not on the water world where Rey and Kylo Ren will have their final scene as shown in the poster.

Emperor Palpatine

The menacing voice of Emperor Palpatine can be heard but we don't see him, we do see a large amount of Star Destroyers that are in orbit round an unknown planet. What it all leads up to is hopefully something that will put the ghosts of the previous films to rest and be the best of the sequels.
