On the fourth of January next year (2011), there will be a partial solar eclipse seen in Northern Europe. In London, UK, the Sun will be 67-70% covered by the Sun. In Glasgow however only about 38% of the Sun will be covered.
I cannot stress enough that although the Sun will be obscured, you must take protective measures to ensure your sight isn't damaged by the light.
Visit Exploratorium to see how to View the Sun safely. You can buy special eclipse glasses that will help you. They are cheap but they come in packs where Ive seen them being sold. All now is fingers crossed that the eclipse is not obscured by cloud.
