The Mandalorian Series Detail

At the 2019 Star Wars Convention in Chicago, further details were released about The Mandalorian television series due out in November 2019. The series is to go live on 12th November on the Disney+ channel. The bad news is that the channel is seemingly only available in the U.S. The rest of the world will probably see it on a streaming service hopefully such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.

The series is set in the aftermath of the death of Emperor Palpatine and the destruction of The Galactic Empire. The Mandalorian is a commando from Mandalore who survives by making a living on the fringes of the galaxy, far away enough not to worry about having to deal with Stormtroopers.

Mandalorians first made an appearance in the Star Wars franchise when Boba Fett was recruited by Darth Vader to hunt down Luke Skywalker in the Empire Strikes Back. Boba Fett in part thanks to his rocket backpack became a fan favourite. Boba met an untimely death in the belly of the Sarlacc Pit on Tatooine when Luke and Han Solo were trying to escape.

In Star Wars II - Attack of the Clones, we learned that Boba Fett was a clone of his dad Jango Fett who was also a Mandalorian commando, complete with a rocket pack. Jango Fett would die on the battlefield of Geonosis but his son would survive and carry on the commando tradition.

Jango Fett was the original source of the D.N.A. for the stormtroopers . Stormtroopers are clones that are created by Kaminos on their watery home world. When the Empire finished, the clone factory was shut down and The First Order conscripted people into the army hence why Finn was a stormtrooper.

Mandalorians really just mean that the person is from the planet Mandalore. Mandalore was once a glorious planet but it became a wasteland caused by war. The planet featured in the cartoon Clone Wars series and yet to appear in a real action series.

Whilst we've already seen a picture of the Mandalorian, its only now at the Convention that we've seen pictures of other cast members, Gina Carano as Cara Dune and Carl Weathers as Greef Carga . What we know is that Greef will be the head of a guild of Bounty Hunters who will send the Mandalorian and others out on a mission. Cara Dune is probably another bounty hunter who tries to beat or work with the Mandalorian for the goal.

The pictures come from the official Star Wars site as promotional pictures.

It was also announced that Alan Tudyk who starred as K-2SO in Rogue One will reprise his role in the Cassian Andor live action series.
