We all know that the Avenger movies came first with the release of Iron Man in 2008 and the first Justice League movie appeared with Batman Vs. Superman : Dawn of Justice. Their grouping names precede the movies by decades.
The Justice League first appeared as the Justice League of America and contained Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Wonder Woman and Superman in the "Bold and the Brave" No. 28. The heroes grouped together to face off against the "Starro, the Conqueror", a giant alien starfish. The comic came out in 1960. They worked together ever since.
Although there were other Avenger groups before, the first real Avengers group appeared three years after Justice League. The original line up consisted of Thor, Ant-Man, Hulk and Iron Man with others joining later. It would not be until Avengers No. 4 that Captain America joins when he is rescued from an icy tomb and is invited to join, according to the Marvel Encyclopedia.
The answer is that although, Disney was the first to get their films out main stream forcing D.C. to catch up, in the comics, the Justice League was first.
