Chirrut is a fictional male in the Star Wars film series who was played on screen by Donnie Yen. Chirrut is a blind monk who although is not a Jedi Knight, he does possess some of the Jedi powers in terms of fighting. Chirrut believes in the force but not force sensitive. His main weapon of choice is the cane but he is seen using a gun. Chirrut is a secondary character within Rogue One film.
Chirrut has a close friend called Baze who provides assistance when Chirrut is unable to do the task in hand. Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor encounter Chirrut and Baze in Jedha City where the two Rebel fighters have come looking for Saw Gerrera, an extremist Rebel Alliance fighter.
Chirrut comes to the assistance of Jyn and Cassian who have been arrested by Stormtroopers following an attack by Saw Gerrara's men in the city. After the Stormtroopers, all three are captured and taken to Saw Gerrara's hide out blindfolded even though Chirrut is blind himself, something that goes unnoticed.
When Jyn Erso and Cassian Andor escape, they take Chirrut and Baze with them. From that moment on, Chirrut has become a rebel fighter.
Chirrut takes part in The Rebel Alliance Rebels' attack on the Imperial data storage facility on Scarif. On that planet is where Jyn believes hold the plans for the Death Star, the devastating planet destroyer that Jyn's father Galen Erso helped construct.
When someone is needed to flick a switch that will enable Jyn to transmit the Death Star plans, Chirrut takes it upon himself to walk to the switch and flick it. After successfully flicking the switch, Chirrut is killed. Although he has been killed, there won't probably be a spin-off for this character, a kind of prequel to a prequel. His and Baze adventures could be turned into a comic or a book but unlikely to be a film about them.
