Leonard McCoy is a fictional male Human doctor in the Star Trek - The Original Series television series who was played on screen by DeForest Kelley, Karl Urban. Leonard McCoy holds the rank of Doctor within the USS Enterprise NCC-1701A.

Doctor Leonard Bones McCoy is the Chief Medical Officer onboard the starship Enterprise. Bones is McCoy's nickname and is an integral part of the crew. He is known for being grumpy all the time and also for being the ships medical doctor. In the reboot, the Doctor is friends with Capt. James Tiberius Kirk long before Spock is introduced to them. The original series had Deforest Kelly play the role with the rebooted role being played by Karl Urban, a New Zealand actor.

Bones appears briefly in the pilot (Encounter at Farpoint) for the Star Trek - The Next Generation series. He also appears in the early Star Trek movies.

The Doctor of Doctor Who fame would never been seen anywhere without his trusty sonic screwdriver, McCoy would never been seen without his tricorder which could be used to examine and diagnose any ailment the patient is suffering from.
