N.A.S.A. and other like minded organisations have been sending probes (inc. rovers) and satellites to the planet to find out if there any or has been any life. If there is any life then it would microbial in form. Although life on this planet first appeared four billion years ago, for a vast majority of that time, life was just microbial life forms. Harvard
The story of J'onzz begins millions of years ago when Mars was once hospitable and Martians lived on the planet. He was expelled from his planet after he had been made into a weapon by his brother. J'onzz spent the ensuing years wandering Earth taking on various forms to survive.
Martians are green but they have the ability to disguise themselves by shape-shifting. To ensure that they he can remain undiscovered on the planet, J'onzz disguises himself as a black male human.
J'onzz has a number of similar powers to Clark Kent, most notably flight. J'onzz is one of the early members of the Justice League, set up to fight those who want to do harm.
When J'onzz is introduced in the series, he is known as John Jones, played by Phil Morris. John has become a policeman in order to find out incidents first. He becomes a powerful ally within the force. During the series, he looses his powers and doesn't get them back until the penultimate series. J'onzz was an ally to Clark's natural father and so therefore the same loyalty was gifted Clark as well.
Hank Henshaw is a member of the Department of Extranormal Operations when he's first introduced in the series. Its a little while before Hank's true identity is revealed as Martian Manhunter. He works alongside Kara Danvers to protect Earth. In addition to Kara, also working there is Lucy Lane, the sister of Lois Lane, the intrepid newsreporter for the Daily Planet.
