Peter Quill - The Avengers

Peter Quill from The Avengers played by Chris Pratt.

Peter Quill is a fictional male Human in the The Avengers comic series who was played on screen by Chris Pratt. Peter Quill would go by the moniker StarLord which he hoped would make him more famous and dangerous than he really was. On a scavenging mission, when he was captured by other people wanting the same item, he used Starlord but the others didn't know what he was talking about. Quill manages to escape.

He was a minor comic character before Marvel took a punt on the character and it worked. Guardians of the Galaxy became a success story. The lore of the character is slightly different between the comic and the film. Whilst both characters are born on Earth, the comic one stays on Earth and joins N.A.S.A. whilst the film has he abducted by aliens. There are a number of addiitonal characters in the comics compared to the movies, for example, in the comics, there is quasar.

Whilst on Xandar, Peter has to contend with a group of other scavengers who are all after the same item. All the scavengers are captured and taken to an off-world prison. The group set about grouping up and escaping from the prison with the help of another new member, Drax the Destroyer.

After the group escape from the prison, they visit the Collector where they learn the item is an Infinity Stone. When all stones are placed in the Infinity Gauntlet, who ever holds the gauntlet can wipe out half of the universe's population by clicking his fingers.

The group confront Ronan who Thanos had tasked with getting the stone.

Gamora

Gamora becomes the adopted daughter of Thanos when Thanos destroyed her world but saved her. Gamora and Nebula are tasked with stealing the stone, the same stone that Peter Quill is after on Xandar. It is on Xandar that Peter Quill comes into contact with Gamora. Gamora uses her feminine wiles to trick Quill but both are eventually arrested and sent to prison.

It is during the prison that Gamora became one of the Guardians and is the person who Peter thinks is very beautiful and tries to get with her but she rebuffs every time.

Gamora is killed by Thanos when to get the Soul Stone, Thanos needed to sacrifice a life in return of the Soul Stone. When Peter Quill found out about Gamora's death, he went mad which ultimately allowed Thanos to escape and clicked his fingers.

Five years after the disintegration, the Avengers travel back in time to steal the Infinity stones to bring people back. When Nebula and James Rhodes a.k.a. War Machine return from the Morag, Gamora comes through the time portal too. It is a Gamora that hasn't met Peter Quill yet but he doesn't know.

Peter Quill's Family

Peter Quill was born on Earth and live with his mother. He never knew his father. When his Mum died, he was kidnapped and brought up by Yondu Udonta, a blue skinned mohican alien.

The only thing he had with him was a tape deck and a tape of songs from the time he lived on Earth. The tape deck is extremely precious to him and he listens to it whenever he gets the chance. In addition to the tape deck, he also had a present from his mother which he could never bring himself to open, preferring to keep it sealed.

Peter Quill meets his father in the second film called Ego. Ego is a celestial person who has the power to alter matter. Ego came to Earth and fathered Peter and then left.

Ego wants Peter Quill to take his place and help to take control of the universe but Peter doesn't want it and fights to stop his father. Like in the first one, the antagonist doesn't directly fight but sends someone else to do it. Ego sends Mantis, a female humanoid with antanae on her head. Mantis will eventually swaps sides to help the Guardians.

Avengers - Infinity Wars / Endgame

The Guardians pick up Thor at the start of Infinity Wars and take him to join the rest of The Avengers. Peter Quill and Thor have massive egoes and cannot get along with one another, both trying to be the alpha male.

The Guardians encounter the Avengers on Titan which is Thanos' home world. After both groups face off against one another, they agree to put their enmity to the side to defeat Thanos. The groups manage to capture Thanos and attempt to take the gauntlet off Thanos therefore preventing the destruction of half of the universe's lifes death. When Peter learns of Gamora's death, Peter can't control his anger and attacks Thanos. Thanos is able to break free from his captors and escape.

Peter Quill disintegrates along with other members of the Avengers across the universe. When Bruce Banner as Professor Hulk is able to bring the dead back with another gauntlet, Peter helps in the final fight against Thanos.
