Samuel Wilson is a fictional male Human in the The Avengers comic series who was played on screen by Anthony Mackie. Falcon, whilst a character in his own right is only a bit character in the Marvel films. Falcon is one of the few characters who is African-American. He was devised as such from the start unlike changing races such as with Nick Fury.
During the Civil War, Samuel sides with his friend Captain America against the group led by Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man.
His main skill is that he is able to fly with his artificial wings. In the comics, Falcon took over the reigns of The Avengers when Steve Rogers stood down. Although Falcon doesn't have a film in his own right, there's nothing to say that Falcon won't be headlining a film soon. A number of actors are planning on bowing out of the Marvel films and that could lead to more prominence by others.
He makes a brief appearance on his own outside the Captain America films in Ant-Man when he tries to prevent access to Stark Industries.
At the end of Endgame when Samuel Wilson meets an old Steve Rogers, Captain America's shield is passed onto Sam. In the comics, it was passed on to Bucky. Its unlikely that Anthony will take on the role of a new Captain America, more likely that he'll feature in a Falcon film instead.
