Varian Wrynn is a fictional male Human in the Warcraft series. The character was portrayed on screen by Dylan Schombing. His allegiance / loyalty is to The Alliance. In the film, we don't see much of Varian Wrynn, he is only a young boy. The clearest picture we do see of him is when his father, King Llane Wrynn is going off to fight the Orcs. Llane tells his son to look after everyone including his mother, Lady Taria Wrynn.
Varian plays an important part in the games from World of Warcraft - Wrath of the Lich King onwards. Before the Lich King expansion, Varian is lost with his son, Anduin Wrynn in charge. Varian was brought back when the achievements feature was enabled. You couldn't have the Horde coming to Stormwind and kill the child king so Varian was presumably bought back to rectify the situation.
Whilst Varian was missing, Varian had lost his memory and was a bare knuckle fighter until his memory came back and return to Stormwind. Varian is a DPS warrior at heart with his long sword as his weapon.
Varian is seen throughout the game, memorably at Pandaria where his son, Anduin has gone missing. Varian leads the assault onto the shores of Pandaria. Varian takes an absense from Warlords of Draenor where your guide is Khadgar.
Varian leads the assault on the Broken Shore where he is killed by an unnamed Legion monster. At the same time, the Troll leader Vol'jin is also killed. Command of the Stormwind army falls to Anduin Wrynn who doubts himself.
