Casino Royale 1967 is a Spy film with a space connection which was released in 1967 and is directed by John Huston. The film's theme tune is 'Casino Royale' and was sung by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.
The first attempt at Casino Royale was a black and white film staring Barry Nelson as the agent. The hero wasn't James but Jimmy Bond. He switches sides of the Atlantic to work for the C.I.A. with Felix Leiter becoming a officer of British Intelligence. The second attempt at Casino Royale was a spoof adaptation of the story. The second film has little apart from character name with the book. James Bond had retired and was asked to come back after his American nephew Jimmy Bond had disappeared whilst undercover. Orson Welles plays Le Chiffre, the Smersh agent that James Bond must outwit at cards.
The film has a wicked theme tune and one of the more memorable bar fights which involves everything from police, french foreign legionnaires to cowboys and indians. The film also stars Ursula Andres who played the first Bond Girl, Honey Ryder in Dr. No.
