Warcraft is a Fantasy film which was released in 2016 and is directed by Duncan Jones.
Warcraft is the film adaptation of the MMORPG game World of Warcraft, a high fantasy game set on the planets of Azeroth and Draenor. The film will show what is expected to be the first incursion of the Orcs on Azeroth. Blizzard, the producers of the game have acknowledged that there is a slight tinkering of the lore of Warcraft, hopefully not to the same extent that there was with Doom which make an awesome plot line bog standard from changing the storyline from invasion of monsters from hell to a scientific experiment gone wrong.
The main antagonist of the story is Anduin Lothar who is a new character in the warcraft lore. Anduin fights for the Alliance and kingdom of Stormwind on behalf of King Llane Wrynn, father of the current King of Stormwind, the principle human city in the game. Established characters appearing in the film are Khadgar and Medivh.
The main surprising thing is the small amount of female characters, there are only two, Lady Taria Wrynn and Garona, the latter being a cross-breed, Orc-Human. In the game, you had characters such as Lady Sylvannas Windrunner who leads the Forsaken and Tyrande Whisperwind, a priestess who led the Night Elf. More characters may be added later but all indications point to a clear fight between the Orcs and the Human.
The Horde will be led by Orgrim Doomhammer, Durotan and Blackhand, all of whom are being corrupted by the Orc Gul'dan. There's no mention yet of the other races of Warcraft such as the Tauren or Forsaken but its early days yet.
