It is also referred to as NGC(4443) in the New General Catalogue. This is a list of deep space objects that was compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888 in an update to John Herschel earlier catalogue. NGC 4443 was discovered in 1849 by William Parsons.

The Galaxy's location is 12:28:6.8 (R.A.) and +13:11:04 (Dec.).
