Cocoon Galaxy Facts

Cocoon Galaxy is a barred spiral galaxy object of interest in space. It lies at a distance of 25 Million LY light years away in the constellation of Canes Venatici.

It is also referred to as NGC(4490) in the New General Catalogue. This is a list of deep space objects that was compiled by John Louis Emil Dreyer in 1888 in an update to John Herschel earlier catalogue. Cocoon Galaxy was discovered in 1788 by William Herschel.

The Barred Spiral Galaxy's location is 12:30:36.2 (R.A.) and 41:38:38 (Dec.). Its Visual (Apparent) Brightness is 10.00 Magnitude . The object can not be seen by the naked eye, you need a telescope to see it.
