Celestia

Celestia is not a game in the same way X3 - Terran Conflict is but is a simulation application that allows you to travel through the universe.  Celestia

Yoda Stories

Yoda Stories were a perfect way to while away the time. You played Luke Skywalker as he tried sorting out problems on numerous Star Wars planets.  Yoda Stories

Battlefront

With a tag line of `Play the battles the way you want`, Battlefront does live up to it. The game emerses you one of the many battles that appeared in the Star Wars films.  Battlefront

Angry Birds - Star Wars

This is a puzzle game predominantly played on phones and tablets where you use a catapult to fire a variety of birds to attack and kill pigs.  Angry Birds - Star Wars

Command and Conquer

The game is based on Robert E. Howard`s famous warrior, Conan. Although you don`t get to play the eponymous hero, you get to play one of his country men. You choose a humanoid race and venture forth.  Command and Conquer

Star Wars Galaxies

The first Star Wars MNORPG, Galaxies ended just before this came out. Galaxies was set in the Star Wars original series timeline whereas this one is set thousands of years in the past. The player takes on the role as someone who is loyal to the Jedi or the Sith. Like with the Pandarens in Warcraft, players can choose which allegiance to belong to for most races, with there being a few exceptions. The adventures take place over a number of different planets. The producers of the game were given a free hand in what they could do with their storyline with the exception of altering the main Star Wars legend, e.g. they couldn`t blow up Hoth as it appears in `The Empire Strikes Back`. The game started off as a pay to play game then changed to a free to play game with a few exceptions.  Star Wars Galaxies

Star Trek Online

For all your Trekkers out (they hate being called Trekkies don`t they ;-), you can don your Star Trek vest and go on your own Star Trek adventure. You play your own character, not someone from the films or television series. You can play Human, Vulcan, Romulan and Klingon as you journey through the galaxy protecting your homeworld whichever one it is. It is also free-to-play after trying the pay for model.  Star Trek Online

Eve Online

Eve Online is a single server Elite clone where people fly, fight and trade their way across the galaxy. The now-disbanded guild `Band of Brothers` got to such a level that their battle with the `Goon Squad` made news outside the `Eve-Online` community.   Eve Online

Starcraft

Starcraft is a RTS strategy game, much like Command and Conquer. The story is that humanity has reached the stars and have come in contact with two alien races, both of whom want to obliterate each other. The other races are the Zerg and Protoss. It is produced by the same people who produce World of Warcraft.   Starcraft

X3, Terran Conflict

If the epic Eve-Online is not your cup of tea but you would like to play a space battle/trading game then this game might be more ideal for you. X3 and its prequels are similar to Eve-Online with the exception that there is no on-line component to the game. You have no guild to keep up with, play at your own leisure and not have anyone flying kamikaze into you as you fly. X3 - Terran Conflict added Earth as a visitable planet. Although you can`t visit the planet, you can fly to and dock at any spacestation that orbits the planets. The alien races of which you can play is limited, all humanoid in looks.  X3, Terran Conflict

Star Wars - The Old Republic

The second Star Wars MMO is set thousands of years before Star Wars Episode I when the Sith is much stronger. The player is able to control either a Jedi or Sith as they battle it out for supremacy of the Galaxy.   Star Wars - The Old Republic

Battlestar Galactica

The game is a "free" browser game of the 2003 television series. Its in quotes because nothing is eve really free. All the action takes places on board Colonial Vipers as you battle incoming Cylon raiders. Characters from the game appear at points through out the game to give instructions and advice. With it being a MMO, you'll neve get to Earth unlike your counterparts in the series.  Battlestar Galactica

Doctor Who Adventures

The Doctor Who games are a low budget implementation of the Doctor Who television series. Those in the UK are able to download for free but those outside the UK will need to buy them. The games have to be downloaded, you can`t get them from shops. The games do not have a high graphic specification requirement and can be played on the most cheapest or oldest of games. You get to play the Doctor or one of his companions but they`re only the latest not say the fourth Doctor. The games are simple and won`t take long to complete.  Doctor Who Adventures

Mass Effect

Mass Effect is a role playing third person shoot-em-up set in a Star Trek style universe. The adventures are based round a space-faring starship who works for Earth. Throughout the game, you have to talk to and respond to numerous characters to find out about an alien race that plans to attack the Earth. The game is produce by Bio-Ware who are also responsible for the Dragon Age games. There are currently three games in the series with a fourth being lined up.  Mass Effect

Fantasy Games

Guild Wars

With a tag line of `Play the battles the way you want`, Battlefront does live up to it. The game emerses you one of the many battles that appeared in the Star Wars films.  Guild Wars

Everquest

When Everquest was released in 1999, it heralded a dawn of computing, the dawn of the MMO. The original has now been superceded by Everquest 2 but the original is still being played.  Everquest

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft is a first person fantasy MMORPG and is the leading pay to play MMO. You play on the fantasy world of Azeroth protecting your faction Alliance or Horde from the Burning Legion and from the other faction.  World of Warcraft

Conan, Age of

The game is based on Robert E. Howard`s famous warrior, Conan. Although you don`t get to play the eponymous hero, you get to play one of his country men. You choose a humanoid race and venture forth.  Conan, Age of

Guild Wars 2

Guild Wars 2 was released in 2012, it is a non-direct sequel to the original Guild Wars games. GW2 is set centuries after the events of Guild Wars. The adventure is set back in the original continent of Tyria. The antagonist is a dragon Zhaitan, that has been awoken from slumber and whose horde of the undead are rampaging across the continent. Unlike other fantasy games and like the original, there are no dwarves or elves. Dwarves are mentioned in the game but they are not playable. The female Charr and Asura are female faces on male bodies with cloth covering their modesty. Unlike the original, everyone plays in the same instance but there are further instances. Unlike other MMOs, there are no quests as such, more events which you can end up repeating again and again to get the much needed XP. There is a running quest line but its not substantial.  Guild Wars 2

Skyrim

Skyrim is the fifth in a series of games called collectively `The Elder Scrolls`. The games stretch back over nearly two decades (as at time of writing July 2013). The game sees you travel around a fantasy world killing dragons, orcs and literally whatever you can lay your hands on. You could say its a `World of Warcraft` game for the single player. The player is able to travel round on a horse, one that is either stolen or bought. The character is able to learn skills and make items. Additionally, the character is able to get married if you get that far in the game. The graphics are superior in quality compared to the dated `Warcraft` games and you can literally spends hours playing the game. The character is user designed and you can play one of a range of races including dwarf, elf and orc. If playing the game hankers you to play online, the `Elder Scrolls Online` version is due out in 2014. The online version will struggle if they plan to release it as a subscription based game seeing as all the other pay to play games bar warcraft has gone free.  Skyrim

Elder Scrolls Online

Elder Scrolls is the first attempt at a MMORPG by Bethesda using their Elder Scrolls brand. It is released twenty years after their first Elder Scrolls simply subtitled as Arena. It is yet another attempt by a software house to try to knock World of Warcraft off their position as being the worlds most popular MMORPG.   Elder Scrolls Online
