The Battle for Mount Hyjal is a raid that first appeared in the World of Warcraft - Burning Crusade, the first expansion pack for Warcraft in 2006. The players are sent back in time to fight Sargaras's minions with the ultimate fight being with Archimonde, the fallen Draenei. The location for the raid is in the Caverns of Time in Tanaris on the continent of Kalimdor. At the max level of 90 plus, it should in theory be a soloable raid now. At the highest level, the tactics can be thrown out the window and Battle for Mount Hyjal be easy.
The entrance to the raid is at the northern end of the raid instance. When you first enter the instance, you are met with a sub-area which has locked portals to different parts of the zone. Only completing different areas will the portals open up so you can come back at different times without having to ride everywhere. When you start, you start at the Alliance base. The Alliance Base is located on the left on the map in the pictures below. When you complete a section, you move to the right on the map to the next encampment. To start the fight, you talk to the Lady Jaina Proudmoore. Christmas Trees are seasonal and not all year round. When you move onto the Horde base, you need to talk to Thrall to start the second phase. Archimonde will start whenever anyone gets close to him. Before you confront Archimonde, you should talk to the Night Elf Priestess leader, High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind as she will give you a buff to protect you from when Archimonde throws you in to the air. Tyrande will be on her sabre mount so look out for her.
In latter trash battles, i.e. at the Horde Encampment, the trash adds are gargoyls and skeletal dragons and you will need to run in after them to kill them. As the fights go on, elemental meteors will attack and cause trouble. Its best that the melee deal with the land trash at the entrance to the base and the ranged deal with those that pass the melee group.
To exit and leave the raid, you need to port out either with a Hearthstone or a portal generated by a Mage (or wormhole generator if you're an engineer). If you decide to end at one boss, you can return again so long as the lock out hasn't run out.
The Battle for Mount Hyjal when you kill trash and bosses will award you with reputation with the Scale of the Sands. Remember to visit Soridomi, a dragon that is in Blood Elf form that gives reputation quests giving you a new ring on each new reputation increase. Indormi, also a Blood Elf is the quartermaster for the Scale of the Sands. Soridomi can be found in the Caverns of Time.
Winterchill will come on his own, there will be no adds. The only adds are the ones before the boss arrives. Every so often, he will freeze a player and you will not be able to do anything until the freeze point is finished. Once the frost is over, give Winterchill some damage.
Anetheron will come on his own like the first boss Rage Winterchill. He will not have any adds like the previous boss. Anetheron special move is that will throw a Carion Swarm which will cause all healing to be reduced by 75%. If you're high enough and can solo it, the Carion Swam should not prove too much of a problem.
Kaz'rogal is the first boss you enter when you move to the Horde encampment. He will silence you with his sword slam. He will cause mana to be reduced so make sure everyone is healed before the slam occurs. If you're soloing this boss because you're high enough, you shouldn't need to worry about.
Azaglor, the Pit Lord will like the others silence the players and cast flames on the ground to cause damage amongst the players. He is the penultimate boss and after he is dead, only Archimonde stands in the way of completion.
Before you get down to where Archimonde is, make sure on the way to the final boss, you speak to Tyrande Whisperwind who is on a panther. She will give you "Tears of the Goddess". The tears will when activated will slow you descent after being thrown into the air. Even if you are high levelled, being thrown into the air can still cause a little damage. When thrown into the air, activate the Tears. If you get close to the Draenei then start the fight pretty much like everyone else. Archimonde's main tactics are fear which will make you run around and fire damage. When Archimonde gets to near death,he will reduce to 1 health point and go into a fit of madness. He will start spawning red flames everywhere, you need to avoid the flames and kill him. Job Done.
