Blackwing Lair is a raid whose entrance is located in Searing Gorge on the continent of Eastern Kingdoms in the World of Warcraft game. The minimum level for this dungeon is 85. The only achievements you can get in this dungeon are the ones for completing. There are no achievements awards for individual boss encounters for making him to do something. Classic raids and dungeons only had one mode and that was normal. Heroic level versions of the dungeon started in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Starting in Cataclysm and onwards, Heroic level dungeons were introduced for the highest level. The raid contains 8 bosses. The end boss of Blackwing Lair is Nefarian.
Introduced when the game first came out, the raid sees players making their way through the raid to kill Nefarian, a Black Dragon. Although you may kill Nefarian here, he'll be back again later for revenge.
The entrance is hidden, when you go through the hole in the wall inside the mountain, you follow the path round till you get to an orb which you click on. When you travel through the dungeon, be sure to pick up Hourglass Sands so that you can cure the Bronze spell otherwise it'll be an hinderance otherwise.
This is a tricky boss if you don't know the method. In the first room you walk in is the boss, there is no trash to start. If you're high enough, you should consider doing it naked so that clothes aren't damaged. There's a good chance you might not succeed on your first chance hence why you should take off your clothes.
Go to the left of the room where the Warlock Orc and his companions are, quickly kill the enemy and then click on the orb. You will now be in control of Razorgore, do not try to kill Razorgore or it will be a wipe and we don't want that.
When you're in control of Razorgore, move round the room quickly and destroy all the eggs by standing over the egg and pressing the key 4. Only keys 4 and 5 are of any importance. If any adds get to you, you select the add and press 5. If you're fast enough, you won't need to worry about the adds as most will simply go to your subdued character. If you do loose focus of Razorgore, kill the adds and then return to controlling Razorgore. Once all the eggs are destroyed then the boss is done.
Before the fight begins, there's a short scene, nothing spectacular mind you. It will show Nefarian mind controlling the dragon and then the dragon begging you to go. Only by talking to the dragon does the fight begin.
Vaelastras will unleash all he has on you. His main spells are fire and over time. The tanks should tank him near the wall with the dps behind him but not too far behind because of his tail whipping. Everyone needs to be ready to move when he does fire AOE otherwise its a wipe. Even at a high level, a player can fail this so don't be too cocky here.
In the Halls of Strife, clear all the small dragons and dragonkins to make life easier. You won't be able to move fast because of the suppression devices which can be clicked on to close. Be sure to clear as many as you can before you start the boss.
With his polearm, he'll have a large area of damage so you need to be careful here. Tank should tank him in the opposite direction of the raid to make life easier. His two main attacks are designed to slow you down so you can't hit back fast. His limited fighting ability should see him down easily tho.
In the Crimson Laboratory, clear all the trash but be careful when you go to the far end as you might pull Firemaw if you are not careful enough. Firemaw has a large journey around the place so you have enough time to clear all the trash.
Firemaw has two main spells, fire damage Area of Effect (AOE) which will burn people. Every so often, he'll also knock you all back which if thats the case, you need to move back in quick and continue to attack.
Ebonroc, Firemaw and Flamegor are all similar in looks and appear very close together. Although Firemaw and Ebronroc are two different bosses, they situated beside one another and its possible to pull both at the same time if you're not careful enough
The tank should pull Ebonroc as far away from the other boss as possible so as to not summon the other boss accidentally. You'll want to avoid any mistakes by any player so everyone needs to be alert and ready.
Pull the boss as far back as possible, away from the three guards and tank him against the wall. Have all the dps be behind him. He will do a lot of AOE flame damage so make sure your healers are up to scratch with whats what and can support those on their dying health.
There will be a count down when he'll do an epic push back which is another reason to tank him as far as away from the guards as possible.
When you enter the fight room, Chromaggus will be behind a door, simply pull the lever and the pet will come out, there is no pause before the battle starts.
Everything that he can, he'll do. He'll cast both poison, disease and curses on you and will change your colour as a result. The healers will have their work cut out for them as a result. Even when the dog is dead, the spells will persist for up to ten minutes or more.
The best thing about this boss is that he drops a pet, although if you're doing this on Classic, you won't get it.
When you arrive at the fight area, Nefarian will be sitting at his throne waiting for you to talk to him. Only when you have spoken will the fight begin. The first stage is he'll be a Shadow Priest but not for long. Nefarian will disappear and a horde of enermy dragonkins and orcs will attack. Only when all the hordes are dead will the next stage start.
Nefarian will turn into a giant black drake for which you must then attack. You should bear in mind that he'll curse you so you better make sure your curses and other DOTs (Damage Over Time) spells have all worn off. In addition to the spells, he'll also fear you, making you unable to control yourself.
The Black Drake picture might look more impressive but the picture is of him as he starts as an undead human. One last thing, if you're fighting and decide you want to start again and shadowmeld, it can screw it up and you won't be able to start again.
