Serpentshrine Cavern Raid Info, Bosses and Location / Entrance

Serpentshrine Cavern is a raid whose entrance is located in Zangarmarsh on the continent of Outlands in the World of Warcraft game. The minimum level for this dungeon is 70. The only achievements you can get in this dungeon are the ones for completing. There are no achievements awards for individual boss encounters for making him to do something. The main anagonist race in this dungeon are Naga. The instance was released in the Burning Crusade expansion. The raid contains 6 bosses. The end boss of Serpentshrine Cavern is Lady Vashj.

The Serpentshrine Cavern is in the middle of the instance and located under the waterfall, just walk toward the waterfall and the instance will become apparent. The location of the entrance is @51,33.

Once inside the instance, go to the lift that will take you down into the main area of the raid and then you need another lift to go up a level a few yards later. This is one of the few instances where the end boss is female. Other raids with female end bosses include Hall of Valor (Helya), Onyxia's Lair (Onyxia) and Heart of Fear (Empress)

Unlike the dungeon instances in this underwater area, the raid doesn't give any rep which is a shame.

Hydross the Unstable Tactics

When you approach Hydross, he'll be busy converting water elementals into purified elementals. When you engage the boss, all the elementals will disappear and you'll just face off against the boss.

The main spell by Hydross is to cast a spell called 'Mark of Hydros' onto you for a number of seconds. The spell will increase the amount of frost damage the boss hits you with. The first increase is 10% then 25%, 50%, 100%, 250% and then finally 500%. The sooner you kill the boss the better.

If you pull the boss out of the beams that you begin with, he'll change from a light green to a dark green. Small versions of himself will appear and attack you. The Mark of Hydros will disappear and be replaced with Mark of Corruption which will do the same kind of damage but it'll be nature not frost.

The Lurker Below Tactics

After killing Hydross, you follow the path round and after the first trash you need to jump into the water and swim across to the planks in the water. Inside the planks, you'll need to fish to summon the next boss. Whoever fishes to summon the boss will get an achievement, a rare pre-Lich King raid achievement that was added in post The Burning Crusade.

Once he has been fished up, the fight will be begin. The things you need to be aware is that he will "squirt" water around everyone and cause to everyone. He has a powerful knock back spell which will affect the players no matter how high they are. Damage is minimal if you're high enough. He'll also call upon Nagas at points in the fight.

Once the fight is over and you have your loot, swim under the planks and look for a tube leading up, you need to climb on that tube and follow it up.

Leotheras the Blind Tactics

When you first approach the boss, he is held captive by three Broken ones. When you kill the broken ones, the fight against Leotheras will begin immediately so don't think you'll have time after you clear the adds.

He will split between being a blinded elfen Demon Hunter and a demon with wings. In the Demon Hunter mode, he'll spin on the spot then follow you like a tornado and in that case you need to run.

The boss has the chance to heal himself so you really need to dps him down as quickly as possible. Before you engage, it is recommended that you clear the area to make things a bit easier.

Fathom-Lord Karathress Tactics

The thing to remember with this boss is that he's a shaman and will create totems in order to cause more damage to your armor. The totems are created by Karahress rather than one of his Lieutenants. The totems will survive after the boss is dead so be aware of that. Some of the other characters will call upon marsh monsters and spore bats.

The main spell is putting people into cyclones and therefore slowing them done. If you're soloing as a mage, you can use blink to move out of the way. Once you have moved out of the Cyclone, both the boss and cyclone will follow so you need to keep moving.

Morogrim Tidewalker Tactics

When you first enter the room, he'll have his back turned to you. You don't need to attack him from the front, the back will do. Clear the room of those pesky murlocs, its safe, you won't start the boss encounter if you kill the murlocs unless you're careless.

When the fight comes, Morogrim will summon Murlocs at intervals, if you don't kill them then you'll have to deal with even more when the murloc timer runs out. He'll also summon a water globule whose objective isn't very clear especially when you are at high level as no damage is visible. Apart from the murlocs, the only other thing you need to worry about is when he freezes you on the spot but you can blink (mage) or use the human racial (Every Man for Himself) or just wait it out.

Lady Vashj Tactics

The final boss is accessible when you click on the controls to activate the bridge. At the same time the bridge is forming, Vashj will lament the players but you can just ignore her, she'll get tired of her own breathe eventually. Once you get to about 80% of the way to the fight area, the bridge will be no more and you'll have to swim the rest of the way.

The first phase is easy enough, its just tanking and spanking. You need to avoid the freezing and hits but apart from that, nothing should scare you.

The second phase, some kind of totems will appear and electrify Vashj. The only way to release her is to get tainted cores to unlock each of the shields. The tainted cores come from Tainted Elementals that appear randomly around the bottom of the fight area near the way. If you're soloing it, it can prove to be difficult because they can appear in opposite parts of the area and you might have difficulty getting to the part before the elemental goes away.

Whilst searching for the tainted elementals, Lady Vashj will grow bigger and bigger until she's so large it's difficult to see her. At the same time as she's growing large, water elementals are moving towards her, those are the ones that give her the ability to grow.

In addition to searching for the Tainted Elementals, Vashj will summon a Marsh Walker or a Naga to deal some damage towards you, you need to take those out as quickly as possible.
