Wailing Caverns is a dungeon whose entrance is located in The Barrens in the World of Warcraft game. The level range for the normal dungeon is 17-24. The only achievements you can get in this dungeon are the ones for completing. There are no achievements awards for individual boss encounters for making him to do something. Classic raids and dungeons only had one mode and that was normal. Heroic level versions of the dungeon started in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. Starting in Cataclysm and onwards, Heroic level dungeons were introduced for the highest level. The main anagonist race in this dungeon are Night Elf. The dungeon contains 9 bosses. The end boss of Wailing Caverns is Mutanus the Devourer.
The Wailing Caverns is one of the first dungeons you will experience if you level a non-hero class character. A hero-class character is one that starts from level 1 and not 55 in the case of the Death Knight or 100 in the case of Demon Hunters. There is no heroic version of this dungeon but given time, Blizzard would probably do an update like they have done for the other dungeons.
The dungeon is hidden in the Northern Barrens zone, the entrance of which is a giant skull carved out of the rock on the side of a mountain. It is a short distance to the south west of the Horde encampment called 'Crossroads'. For the Alliance to get to the location, they would need to fly to the Goblin encampment 'Ratchet' and travel west. Wailing Caverns Location is on the edge of the Northern Barrens so if you don't know where it is because you've not explored that location yet, just follow the edge of the zone till you find the Skull Rock entrance. Very much like The Deadmines , you will have to go through the cave system to find the entrance which although isn't immediately obvious, you will have to trek through to find.
There are two missions to this dungeon, the first is to kill the Night Elf bosses scattered around the dungeon. The second is then to travel back to the Tauren at the start who will lead you to the final encounter with Mutanus, a giant Murloc creature. A word of warning the dungeon can get bugged if you over-dps so if you're a very high level for this low level dungeon, you may end up bugging it. There's only one achievement to be had here and that is to just complete the dungeon. If you need to go do it, I suggest having your character fight in his underwear, that way their dps will be a lot lower than it would be fully clothed.
