Elwynn Forest is a zone on the continent of Eastern Kingdoms in the World of Warcraft game. The zone has a forest environmental feel to it. . Elwynn Forest has quests for players leveled 1-12. There is a major city in this zone called Stormwind. The area is controlled by the Alliance and should be avoided by the Horde. There are no dungeons or raids located in this zone.
Elwynn Forest is the starting zone for the humans. When Humans are created, they will start their quests in an area known as Northshire which is next to Stormwind at the north of the zone.
One of the main antagonists in this area are the Defias who are a group of bandits led by Edwinn Van Cleef. These bandits are centred mainly around Northshire and the entrance to Stormwind but they can more an hinderance than anything else. The Defias headquarters is The Deadmines, a dungeon in Westfall, a zone to the west of this location.
In addition to the Defias, there are bears, wolves, kobolds and Murlocs to deal with. Murlocs are easy to recognise because of their screeching calling. A Murloc made an appearance in the Warcraft film, a blink and you miss it shot.
The main settlement other than Stormwind is Goldshire, a small hamlet to the south. Each starting zone has a major city and a minor city to boot. In the film Warcraft, the town of Goldshire made an appearance where King Llane Wrynn discusses what is going on with his guards. A lot of the action in the film is centred around Elwynn Forest which included the first contact between humans and the Orcs.
Goldshire has become a popular place for players to challenge one another in PVP so if you ever fancy doing an open world P.V.P., this is one of the places to go.
During Easter, World of Warcraft honors the Christian celebration by having their own version called Noblegarden. For Alliance, it is a time when people run round the main cavern in the town to pick up eggs, sometimes the players are turned into a rabbit.
