Mount Hyjal

Mount Hyjal Zone in World of Warcraft, copyright Blizard Ent.

Mount Hyjal is a zone on the continent of Kalimdor in the World of Warcraft game. The zone has a forest environmental feel to it. . Mount Hyjal has quests for players leveled 80-82. The area is not controlled by either faction and has quests for both factions. There is one dungeon or raid located in this zone.

During Classic and the first two expansions, Mount Hyjal was closed off from the world but Cataclysm changed all that. In the past long ago, Mount Hyjal was the battle between the factions and Archimonde, one of Sargeras's officers. You can experience the battle in a Caverns of Time raid. It was one of two starting zone in Cataclysm so that not everyone would be fighting to kill the same monster, it was to share the balance.

To access the zone, you need to use the portal in one of the two faction capitals, those being Stormwind and Origrammar. You can also fly to the zone if you have the necessary skill training.

The only instance in the zone is Firelands, a raid where the environment is fire and heat. The end boss will see an old foe return from the dead. In this raid, the foe will get up and fight on his feet.

The legendary staff questline takes place in this zone. The staff is only attainable by Priests, Mages, Warlocks and Druids. The questline will result in players returning to the place numerous times in order to get the necessary loot which doesn't always drop from the bosses.

At Nordassil, there are two portals, one for each faction. If you attempt to go through the wrong portal, nothing will happen. Nordassil is one of the world trees on the planet.

Underneath part of the mount is the Timbermaw tunnel allowing access to and from Winterspring and Moonglade from Felwood.
