Northern Stranglethorn is a zone on the continent of Eastern Kingdoms in the World of Warcraft game. The zone has a jungle environmental feel to it. . Northern Stranglethorn has quests for players leveled 25-30. The area is not controlled by either faction and has quests for both factions. There is one dungeon or raid located in this zone.
Before Deathwing carved up the zone, it used to be part of a larger zone called Stranglethorn Value along with Cape of Stranglethorn. Both zones have the same look and feel. The area is populated with safari creatures, humans, goblins and trolls. Access to the zone is through a path from Duskwood or up from Cape of Stranglethorn. The Cape of Stranglethorn has a boat link with Ratchet in The Barrens on Kalimdor if you're Horde and you don't fancy running in from Undercity.
The main human enemies can be found in Kurzen's Compound and also in the cave with is at the back of the area. The Venture Company Base and a few other places are where you can find unfriendly goblins. The goblins are unfriendly to the Horde so beware.
The Darkspear Trolls, the group that belong to the Horde now used to live and work in Zul'Gurub to the east. The Trolls were evicted and in its place are trolls that worship the flying serpent Hakkar. Zul'Gurub was originally a raid that was released in the World of Warcraft - Vanilla pack. People would mine the place to try to get the Tiger mount which dropped from a boss in the raid. The raid was closed and re-opened as a five man dungeon. The tiger is no longer available but you could get a panther or a raptor from the bosses. If you wanted to look at Zul'Gurub without entering the dungeon, you will need to fly up and over the wall, the only land entrance leads to the dungeon.
There are pockets of Trolls everyone, including at the Ruins of Zul'Kunda in the north western area. The Zandalari trolls which you used to be able to gain rep from no longer give rep. The Zalandari Trolls are now enemies with everyone.
Hemet Nesingway, the great Dwarven hunter/explorer will set you a series of quests to kill animals, panther, tiger and raptor at increasing levels. Once you have done the killings, he asks you to kill epic versions of each animal before the final big one and an achievement. If you never went to Stranglethorn when levelling and you are an achievement shark, its definitely one to do. It might take a while to do, more out of having to find so many than finding it difficult.
