UnGoro Crater

UnGoro Crater Zone in World of Warcraft, copyright Blizard Ent.

UnGoro Crater is a zone on the continent of Kalimdor in the World of Warcraft game. The zone has a swamp environmental feel to it. . UnGoro Crater has quests for players leveled 48-55. The area is not controlled by either faction and has quests for both factions. There are no dungeons or raids located in this zone.

Un'Goro Crater is a nod towards the Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The story is of a place discovered by an explorer where dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures still roam. You won't just come across raptors which you see in other parts of the world, there's Dimetrodons, Tyrannosaurus and a Stegosaurus. Dimetrodons aren't dinosaurs, they predate dinosaurs, they're prehistoric animals instead.

At the heart of the zone is the obligatory volcano that always appears whenever there is dinosaurs. In the south of the zone is an area that contains silithids (insects) that have "escaped" from Tanaris and Silithus.

During Noblegarden which is the Warcraft equivalent of Easter, there is an achievement to be had where you disguise yourself as a bunny and then have to lay an egg in the hot springs on the eastern side of the zone.

There is a Horde only rep quest line that awards a unique mount. It was in response to The Hordes disappointment that there was an Alliance only quest line in Winterspring which awarded a panther. The Raptor can only be ridden by Horde characters and requires coming back to the zone to do a daily or two. Rep is low so expect to be doing it a long time. If you're doing it, its best to use a Mage then you can save the Hearthstone somewhere and then port back out with ease.
