The Dwarves of Erebor are the group of twelve dwarves who set out to liberate Erebor, the lonely mountain from the clutches of Smaug. Their leader is Thorin Oakenshield who over the course of the films turns inwards before then turning back outwards to face off against Azog, the lead antagonist in the film. The Dwarves are assisted by the great wizard Gandalf and the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins who acts as the groups thief. The purpose of the thief is to steal the Arkenstone, a magnificent stone amongst the old in Erebor.

Balin is one of the twelves dwarves that set out to reclaim Erebor, the Lonely Mountain from Smaug, the dragon who taken over the dwarven kingdom. He is also the dwarf who presents Bilbo Baggins with a contract so Bilbo knows what to expect on their journey to Erebor.
Bombur is the heaviest of the dwarves who helped Thorin Oakenshield but is able to run faster than any of them when are running from an unknown monster in the woods.
Fili is a dwarf male character He is aligned to the Dwarves of Erebor. He has a twin brother called Kili who is also part of the Dwarves that assist Thorin Oakenshield to remove Smaug the dragon from their home, Erebor, also known as the Lonely Mountain. Fili is killed when Ashok, the Orc captures him and stabs him through his back then throws him off the cliff.
Kili is one of the band dwarves led by Thorin Oakenshield who travel to Erebor, the Lonely Mountain to rid it of Smaug the dragon. Kili has a brother called Fili who is also part of the mission. In a complete break from the novel of the same name, Kili becomes romantically connected to Tauriel who doesn `t appear in the books. It is one of those parts of the film that had people wondering why they included that in the story, it doesn`t add anything except to push out Legolas Greenleaf.
Gloin is one of the dwarves that assists Thorin Oakenshield in the quest to remove the dragon Smaug from Erebor, the lonely mountain and home of the dwarves. Gloin is revealed in Hobbit - Desolation of Smaug to be the father of Gimli who appeared in the Lord of the Rings films.
