Eukelade, Moon of Jupiter

Eukelade is a Moon that orbits round the planet Jupiter. Its orbit circumference, the total distance it travels round its planetary parent is 143,888,850.71 km. The furthest it gets from its orbital parent (apoasis) is 29,548,974 km. Its mass is estimated/calculated at being 89,920,105,985,832 kg. Its density has been calculated at being 2.6 g/cm3. Its volume is 34 km3.

Eukelade was discovered on 6 February 2003 by Scott S. Sheppard.

The orbital period, i.e. the period it takes to complete an orbit round Jupiter is 730.33 days. The figure is also known as the sidereel period. The figure comes from N.A.S.A..

The Semi-Major Axis of the orbit is 23,322,000 km, which is the furthest point from the centre to the edge of an elliptical point.

The equatorial circumference of Eukelade is 12.6 km. The mean radius, that is the average radius of Eukelade is 2.0 km. The surface area of Eukelade is 50.27 km2. The surface gravity of the said item is 0.002 m/s2. The average orbit velocity, that is the speed at which it orbits is 8,209.2 km/h.

The orbital inclination, the angle at which Eukelade orbits in relation to the orbital plane is 165.246 degrees. The orbital eccentricity is 0.267, it is the degree at which Eukelade orbits close to a circular (0) orbit as opposed to an elliptical (1) orbit.

Carme Moon Group

Carme is the largest of the group of Jovian moons referred to as the Carme group. They have all been grouped together because it is believed they all shared the same common source. In addition to the supposed common source, all the members of the group are non-spherical and retrograde, that is they all orbit the planet Jupiter in the opposite direction that Jupiter rotates. As they are all retrograde in the group, they all end with the letter "e" as dictated by the International Astronomical Union, the international body that defines the names. Although some names have not yet been agreed upon. Kiddle
