Taygete, Moon of Jupiter

Taygete is a Moon that orbits round the planet Jupiter. It is also know by other designations, JXX, S/2000 J9. Its mass is estimated/calculated at being 164,853,527,640,691 kg. Its density has been calculated at being 2.6. Its volume is 65.

Taygete was discovered on 25 November 2000 by Scott S. Sheppard, David C. Jewitt, Yanga R. Fernandez, and Eugene Magnier.

The orbital period, i.e. the period it takes to complete an orbit round Jupiter is 732.2 days. The figure is also known as the sidereel period. The figure comes from N.A.S.A..

The Equatorial Radius of the object is 3km. The Equatorial Radius is based on the assumption of the Albedo value. The value is the radius in km of the said object at the Equator.

The albedo of the object is 0.04. The Albedo is the amount of radiation that is reflected back into space by the object.

The Escape Velocity of the object is 11 km/h. The Escape Velocity is the speed an object needs to be travelling in order to break free from the objects gravity. The larger an object is, the more velocity (speed) is needed to break free from the object. The Semi-Major Axis of the orbit is 23360, which is the furthest point from the centre to the edge of an elliptical point.

The equatorial circumference of Taygete is 15.7 km. The surface area of Taygete is 78.54. The surface gravity of the said item is 0.002. The Mean orbit velocity, that is the speed at which it orbits is 8217.10 km/h. The is the average distance in km of the object is from its parent 23363000.00.

The orbital inclination, the angle at which Taygete orbits in relation to the orbital plane is 165.2 degrees. The orbital eccentricity is 0.2518, it is the degree at which Taygete orbits close to a circular (0) orbit as opposed to an elliptical (1) orbit.

Carme Moon Group

Carme is the largest of the group of Jovian moons referred to as the Carme group. They have all been grouped together because it is believed they all shared the same common source. In addition to the supposed common source, all the members of the group are non-spherical and retrograde, that is they all orbit the planet Jupiter in the opposite direction that Jupiter rotates. As they are all retrograde in the group, they all end with the letter "e" as dictated by the International Astronomical Union, the international body that defines the names. Although some names have not yet been agreed upon. Kiddle
